Why Yoga Snacks Are the Easiest Way to Ease Into Your Day
Have you ever caught yourself thinking... "I’d love to stretch today, but I don't have an hour to spare and I'm not really sure what to do".
It’s so easy to fall into an all or nothing trap - we often assume that unless we have a full 60 minutes, a tidy living room, and our exercise clothes on, it somehow doesn't count... believe me, I've been there too!
I'm sure you've heard me regularly say in class that there are simple ways you can take your yoga practice and weave it into everyday life.
You may even have heard me call them yoga snacks.
What is a Yoga Snack?
A yoga snack is what it says on the tin, a short window of time for gentle movement or breathwork practice as part of our everyday life.
It’s taking a slow, deep breath in and out while waiting for the kettle to boil. It’s a yogi squat or tree pose balance while brushing your teeth. Or it might even be finding two minutes of gentle floor stretches in your pyjamas before bed.
A yoga practice really doesn't need to be a long or intense session to help. Even just two or three minutes can:
Soften that tight feeling around your shoulders and lower back
Give your mind a quick, quiet pause from a busy morning
Shift how your whole day feels
Adding a Little Movement to Your Routine
Whether you come to a regular weekly class with me or elsewhere, or you're looking to build a ritual at home, these tiny moments are such a lovely thing to add to your daily routine.
No expectations, just a couple of minutes to check in with how your body feels today.
A 30-Second Movement to Try
To give you an easy starting point, here is a 30-second video of three simple floor movements I often do when I wake up feeling a bit tight:

Seated Side Bend: Sitting comfortably, gently lean to one side to open up through your ribs.
Tabletop (Cat/Cow & Sways): On hands and knees, explore a gentle arch and round of the spine, or sway your hips side to side.
Puppy Pose: Walk your hands forward and let your chest rest toward the floor (a cushion under your head works brilliantly here too).
Craving a Full Hour to Yourself?
While yoga snacks are great for everyday moments, taking some time just for yourself without having to think about anything is a lovely way to relax.
Our weekly classes in Haughley, Thurston, Woolpit and Fornham All Saints are always friendly, supportive, and open to everyone - especially if you've never stepped on a mat before.
If you'd like to give it a try or want to see which daytime or evening class fits your week best, you can explore my full timetable below:
